What parents need to know

Parents need to know that ABBY MONKEY - First Words for Preschool: Animals HD by 22learn is an educational app designed to help children learn to form words. The app is split into two levels -- learning and game. In learning, children form words from letter tiles to match the cartoon picture shown on screen. In the game level, identification and reading skills are promoted, as children are asked to match pictures of animals with their names. Parent should note that the first page of the app has several buttons featuring other apps from the publisher; clicking on them removes
players from the app and sends them to the iTunes App Store. There
is also a free trial version of the app.

Is it any good?

The ABBY MONKEY - FIRST WORDS FOR PRESCHOOL: ANIMALS HD BY 22 LEARN developers may not know how to put together a succinct app name, but when it comes to fun ways to educate children, the team knows what it's doing. First Words is a good head start for children who know their ABCs
and are curious about what to do with them, showing them how to spell
more than 80 animal names and rewarding them with cute animations. The matching puzzle is aimed at slightly older players. As
with other entries in the series, parents can adjust the difficulty of any part of the app to
give it longevity. Unfortunately, the promotional links at the app's start-up page are likely to frustrate preschoolers who tap them and end up in the iTunes store; instructing them to tap "start" instead of the colorful boxes should help.
