What's It About?

To sign up for ABLO, enter an email address and a birth date. It’s is a pretty straightforward social networking app with the twist that it instantly translates dozens of languages, encouraging people to connect with others from all over the world. Users write or talk in their own language, and the messages are automatically translated to the recipient’s language. There are challenges, miles, and rankings that encourage people to be more active. Users can buy coins that allow them to use filters (such as region and gender) when searching for connections. As with many social media apps, a user can block people they've connected with if desired.

Is It Any Good?

The idea of easily chatting with people from different cultures is certainly appealing, but this app is definitely not intended for kids and seems geared toward online daters. In other words, in encourages strangers to meet. Like so many other apps that allow strangers to meet, many of the chats turn to sexting. Some users also report abusive behavior. In fact, anyone in the United States under the age of 18 is not supposed to use the app. An option would be for parents to create an account and allow kids to only use the app together as a family. This would let kids connect and chat with friends or relatives across the globe.
