What's It About?
The app catalogs more than 304 species of birds. Each entry has basic facts about things like habitat, diet, and reproduction; to learn more, users must follow a link to Wikipedia, a free online encyclopedia. You can also access the birds' songs and take a quiz that requires you to identify the type of bird based on a picture or song.
Is It Any Good?
The highlight of BIRDS PRO HD - NATURE MOBILE is its library of beautiful high-definition photographs, many of which have been submitted by users. There are basic facts about each bird too, but users must follow a link to Wikipedia to learn more, which requires an Internet connection. Users can browse the list of birds alphabetically, or search for a specific bird by name. Birds Pro HD is a decent encyclopedia for the casual bird enthusiast. For a more comprehensive bird app, try the Audubon Society's Field Guide apps, which also include birdwatching tips and the ability to identify unknown birds by appearance.
