A lot or a little?

The parents' guide to what's in this app.

Ease of Play

It's all one-finger control. Drag your finger to move a player around the ice, swipe to pass or shoot (or steal, if you're on defense). There are four difficulty levels, and while the higher levels are diabolically tough, newcomers can excel on easier levels.

Violence & Scariness

The player with the puck can be checked and knocked over. Characters fall down with cartoony stars circling overhead, but quickly get back up.

Sexy Stuff

In order to download free additional content (new team and stadium), you'll have to "join" the game's Facebook group.

Drinking, Drugs & Smoking

What parents need to know

Parents need to know that Chop Chop Hockey offers a cartoony and simple way to play a version of the sport. As in most hockey games, players can check one another and knock opponents down, but the worst damage that occurs here is animated stars circling someone's head. On the easiest setting, even young kids can handle the controls of this game. Be aware that there's an offer for free added content, but that you'll have to join a special Facebook group to download it.

Is it any good?

CHOP CHOP HOCKEY is the latest sports game from the team that brought us the action game, Chop Chop Ninja. Like all the Chop Chop games, this hockey sim is notable for its cute, cartoony characters and ultra-simple one-finger controls. The teams, which include police officers, cavemen, and ninjas (naturally), are imaginatively designed and different enough from one another that you'll want to try out several of them. You can play a quick game or long tournament. The only thing missing is two-player head-to-head competition.
