What's It About?
COVID COACH's interface is divided into four sections: Manage Stress, Mood Check, Learn, and Find Resources. Tap and swipe through them to find what interests you and create a list of favorites. You can browse Manage Stress by challenge or by tool. Challenges include handling anger and irritability, navigating relationships, feeling lonely, and others. Tools include guided meditations as well as inspiring quotes, ideas for indoor activities, and sleep tools. Learn has information about staying physically safe and emotionally sound during the pandemic. Mood Check has guides for setting goals, tracking well-being, and more. Find Resources includes links to local and national COVID-19 information as well as links for substance abuse, crisis support including suicide prevention hotlines, and services to help with financial needs. The parents and caregivers section links to articles helpful in guiding children through the pandemic.
Is It Any Good?
Don't let the name or the creator sway you from this rich wellness resource packed with tools for mindfulness, self-awareness, relationships, and goal-setting -- as well as COVID-19 information. Though it includes helpful information for mental health during the Coronavirus quarantine and tips for vets, COVID Coach is easily relevant for anyone at any time. Users can navigate by section, but swiping also takes kids to the next section, which makes it super easy to poke around. Lots of cross-links are included, so the journey isn't linear at all, allowing kids to freely move where they need. COVID Coach works well as a screen-based tool, but also has ideas for offscreen activities to entertain the whole family and keep everyone grounded. It wasn't developed specifically with kids in mind as users. Though the graphics and interface are clean and look great, it's not exactly exciting or fun for kids. Despite that, COVID Coach has potential to be a golden resource for kids and parents alike.
