A Lot or a Little?
What you will—and won't—find in this app.
Ease of Play
Using the app to create original artwork is incredibly simple, but if you are having difficulty, there are a set of lengthy and detailed tutorial videos to show you the steps.
Products & Purchases
The app has a "lite" version which is ad-supported, which means users might come across advertisements that are not kid-friendly.
Parents Need to Know
Parents need to know that Faces iMake - Premium! is a creative app that allows kids (or adults) to design portraits with random objects such as lemons, grape bunches, pencils, tape rolls, paintbrushes, cheese graters, dominoes, etc. Users can also upload photos using their phone's camera or use a photo from the device's image library. If you have an email account registered to your mobile device, kids can use it to send their creations to friends and relatives. This "premium" version is an update of what used to be a free app called simply Faces iMake; now users who try the free "lite" version might come across advertisements that are not kid friendly. This new version is just as much fun as the old version, with some exciting improvements.
Is It Any Good?
FACES iMAKE gives kids an amazingly diverse palette of random objects from which they can create wonderful works of art. A set of fabulous, detailed tutorial videos provide tips and inspirations as well as how-to instructions. You'll be amazed to discover just how many ways you can use a particular item: A greenbean, for instance, can be a mouth, an eyebrow, a nose, hair, a mustache, an antenna -- you name it. Faces iMake provides a neat new way for kids to think about art.
Did we miss something on diversity?
Research shows a connection between kids' healthy self-esteem and positive portrayals in media. That's why we've added a new "Diverse Representations" section to our reviews that will be rolling out on an ongoing basis. You can help us help kids by suggesting a diversity update.
