What parents need to know

Parents need to know that Helsing's Fire is an imaginative puzzle game that takes place within a horror movie scenario. Van Helsing and his partner are out to destroy a plague of monsters that is terrorizing the city, but there is no fighting -- the monsters are vanquished by the use of a potion and light. The game's storyline is very tongue-in-cheek, with humorous bits of dialogue in between levels.

Is it any good?

The concept behind the puzzle play in HELSING'S FIRE is brilliant. Each level provides you with a different layout of monsters and obstacles; you need to strategically place your torch so that its light will be cast upon all the monsters -- then you use your potion to zap any baddies within your torchlight. As the game gets harder, you'll get different color monsters that must be grouped together as you light them without lighting foes of other colors. It's a truly new and different type of puzzle game -- and an addictively fun one, at that. Plus the humorous storyline and dialogue keep you entertained between levels. It is from the makers of the very popular Angry Birds.
