Is It Any Good?
Younger kids will find a treasure trove of videos on this app, and parents can feel good about what they see here. Jellies - Safe Kids Videos chooses the kid-friendly videos from many sources, including YouTube. There's a lot of just-for-fun stuff here, but there are also some solid educational videos, too. Once parents establish what topic categories go into their kid's library, kids can browse dozens of videos in each category. Kids on the older side of Jellies' target audience -- those in the 8+ age range -- may want more content (like gaming videos and popular YouTubers) that's not included here, so it's probably a better fit for little kids. Many parents will love the level of control over what videos their kids watch, and young kids will love the content choices on this app. A few more parental controls around time limits would be nice.
Talk to Your Kids About ...
Families can talk about why it's helpful to use an app like Jellies - Safe Kids Videos to find safe video content. Explain to your kid that it's important to stay safe online just as it is in other places, and check out these other YouTube alternatives for more options.
Even though the videos on this app tend to include quality content, screen time limits remain important, especially for young viewers. Read Common Sense Media's How to Set Screen Rules That Stick.
Include your kid when choosing the topic categories to place in their video library on Jellies - Safe Kids Videos.
