Did we miss something on diversity?
Research shows a connection between kids' healthy self-esteem and positive portrayals in media. That's why we've added a new "Diverse Representations" section to our reviews that will be rolling out on an ongoing basis. You can help us help kids by suggesting a diversity update.

A Lot or a Little?
The parents' guide to what's in this app.
What Parents Need to Know
Parents need to know that Kabillion is an unmoderated platform linking social media and the Kabillion YouTube channel, which features classic and original cartoons. The terms of service specify it's for users 13 and over. Teens can connect their social media accounts as well as post on the wall and comment on shows, but there's no way to delete posts or comments. Some shows are viewable for free, but others require in-app purchases of single episodes or bundles. Episodes are shown on YouTube, and kids could search for any YouTube video from within the app, with no filter or moderation.

What’s It About?
KABILLION curates the content of the Kabillion YouTube channel, allowing teens to browse by show, create a favorites list, and comment. Kids also can post on the fan wall and view the itsKabillion Twitter feed. Programs include original and syndicated shows such as Bratz, WWE Slam City, Wild Grinders, Claymation cartoons, an anime series, a skating show, and about a dozen others.
Is It Any Good?
Though some of the cartoons are really good, and even the not-so-good ones are popular with kids, the safety concerns of accessing content through YouTube and the inability to delete comments or wall posts make this an iffy choice. Since much of the content appeals to younger kids, it's further troubling that the terms of service specify this app is for 13 and up.
Talk to Your Kids About ...
Families can talk about the differences and similarities among characters on "classic" shows, such as those featured on Kabillion, and the stars of today. How do people dress? How do they talk? How do they treat others?
Since kids are watching videos with ads and unmoderated video and social media, encourage them to talk openly with you about questions they have or content that makes them uncomfortable.
