What Parents Need to Know
Parents need to know that Kahoot! Multiplication Games is a jazzed up way for kids to practice memorizing multiplication tables. Multiplication drills are set in silly games such as unrolling the target number of toilet paper squares. Kids earn rewards as they pass levels, and the drills adjust according to kids' performance. The free download includes access to a limited number of games per day. Buy the full app for $9.99 or subscribe to the Kahoot! suite of apps for $8.99/month or $89.99/year. What’s It About?
Open KAHOOT! MULTIPLICATION GAMES and jump right in to the first drill set. Kids solve simple multiplication equations set in silly contexts. For example, they see "My Birthday is 3x1" and they have to flip the pages on a calendar to display the correct date. Or they need to unroll toilet paper to collect the correct number of paper squares. A handful of drills are grouped into challenges; pass a challenge to earn stars or brainpower. There are five challenges available for free every day, and unlimited games in the paid download. At any time, kids can visit the multiplication grid to see what levels they've passed, or choose any of the 20 mini-games for extra practice. As kids keep playing, they also unlock pieces of a comic book like story.
Is It Any Good?
There are tons of apps covering multiplication, but this one has a variety of mini-games to keep kids engaged. Kahoot! Multiplication Games does a great job of targeting skills. The level of humor and wackiness is at just the right level for mid-elementary school years, which is when most kids are learning multiplication. And with five drills a day, kids can actually get away with using the free version for a small daily dose of practice, though they may still beg for more access when they reach the pay wall. Be aware, the focus is strictly on drills. There are no tips, hints, or even simple walkthroughs of the mini-games. In terms of how it functions, it would be great for caregivers to be able to turn off the music/sounds, create multiple profiles, and see where kids are getting stuck. Also, it's important to be aware that sometimes tapping the home button in the middle of the game doesn't work. But if you're looking for multiplication practice that cycles through varied approaches, this app is worth a try.

Families can talk about the drills in Kahoot! Multiplication Games. Help kids practice throughout the day by asking them to recite the seven's times table, for instance, or giving them a random multiplication equation.
