What's It About?
Bring the Little Friends dolls to boogying life with LITTLE FRIENDS DANCE. Customize hair and outfit color, and place stickers on a choice of eight 3D Little Friends dolls. Scroll through the 20 visual backgrounds or use the camera to make the doll seem as though it's dancing in your own setting. Then choose from five club-hopping musical backgrounds and arrange 10 pre-loaded dance moves in your preferred combination. Tap play to watch the dance routine.
Is It Any Good?
Though decorating and choreographing is an easy process, there may not be enough options to truly excite kids. The 3D dolls look great and move relatively well. But, beyond that, Little Friends DANCE offers some pretty standard fare: Choose a doll and "customize" it from a small collection of color and decoration options. With spinning and breakdancing, some of the choreography is super cool. Yet, the dance routines are limited to a couple handfuls of pre-programmed moves. And with all five available songs featuring a techno-like sound, there's little variation in music type. Little Friends DANCE may appeal to kids who are interested in engaging with the Little Friends line in a different way, but it doesn't have enough to it to be a valuable creative tool.
Talk to Your Kids About ...
Families can talk about and try copying the moves in Little Friends DANCE. Is it easy or difficult to coordinate your body to move the way the digital dolls do?
Talk to your kids about branded product lines. What might make this app more or less appealing than a similar app that's not connected to a product line?
Let the on-screen dancing inspire you to get grooving yourself in an offscreen dance party. Make it a family activity to experiment with music of different tempos and move your body in different ways!
