Kids will find this beautifully designed, comprehensive reference tool to be an easy to use and interactive vocabulary-building tool. The app's design is visually appealing and user friendly. There's no need for tutorials to figure out how to take full advantage of this tool. LookUp: English dictionary reinvents the idea of a pocket dictionary, making it easier to access definitions, synonyms, and antonyms. To give kids a more complete idea of each word, the app also offers information regarding each words' origin and information that appears in Wikipedia. Visual learners will enjoy the illustrations and/or photographs that represent each word. The verbalized pronunciation is another useful feature. The clear audio pronunciation takes the mystery out of how to say each word. People who speak more than one language or are learning English will love that a translation appears right below the definition. LookUp: English dictionary considers multiple ways kids make meaning or relate to information. The app also makes a great reading companion. Kids can easily look up words they don't know while reading and can organize them into collections based on book or topic. The quizzes are a fun, interactive way to practice vocabulary. Overall, LookUp: English dictionary is an awesome vocabulary learning platform; however, parents should be aware that kids will be able to access mature content depending on the words they search or choose to learn. In addition to definitions to curse words or mature language, kids may also see illustrations or photographs that depict artistic and/or realistic nudity, alcohol consumption, and other mature themes.
