Ease of Play

Part of the draw of this game is its simple but addicting gameplay. It is sort of like a pinball game in that it requires practically no skill at all to play and enjoy it, but players who want a challenge can always try to get better at the game and aim for a high score.

What parents need to know

Parents need to know that Multiponk is a variation on the classic video game Pong, in which two players knock a ball back and forth with the goal of knocking the ball into their opponent's goal. This game adds a lot of twists, including themed and colorful game boards, numerous obstacles that make sending the ball back and forth a feat in and of itself, and the addition of a single-player mode. In single-player, users are playing against themselves, trying to rack up as many points as possible before the ball drops through the open gap at the bottom of the screen (as in a game of pinball). On the iPad, up to four players can play. Users can share high scores via the optional Game Center social network.

Is it any good?

MULTIPONK is based on one of the very first video games of all time, Pong. The ultimate classic game is as timeless as ever here, and gets a breath of fresh air with a very nice graphical overhaul. The game boards, though not exactly pushing the limits of an iPhone or iPad, are very well designed and look great. Players will have fun maneuvering through the various obstacles and challenges presented in the different boards. It was the frantic, quick-reflexes action that made Pong such a hit decades ago, and that compelling adrenaline-inducing style makes it just as fun this time around.
