Pinball games may be getting harder to find in the physical world but they seem to be proliferating in the digital domain. However, PINBALL HD differentiates itself from its competitors in terms quality and value. Three bucks buys three very distinct tables with jungle, sea, and western themes. They look fantastic in high-definition on the iPad’s big, glossy screen, and are complemented by a physics system that makes the game’s virtual balls move just like their real world counterparts. Tapping the sides of the screen to flick the flippers is intuitive, as is shaking the iPad to jiggle the table. Bonus: Narrated overviews of the features of each table ensure that you need never wonder what each light, rail, and bumper means or does. If you’re looking for iPad pinball, you’re unlikely to find better.
