What parents need to know

Parents need to know that The Big Brag is an ebook adaptation of one of Dr. Seuss's lesser-known stories. In it, a rabbit and a bear argue over which of them is the better animal -- the rabbit saying he can hear farthest, the bear saying he can smell farthest. In the end they both get their comeuppance. The app allows kids to read on their own, or listen to the story read aloud by an actor.

Is it any good?

While all of the Dr. Seuss ebook apps from Oceanhouse Media have been stellar in their presentation, THE BIG BRAG stands out as possibly the most well-acted of all of them. Hearing this story read aloud by its talented narrator -- who puts on different voices for every characters -- is truly entertaining. The app is also, of course, a great educational tool as the highlighted text makes it very easy for beginning readers to follow along.
