What’s It About?
Players take on the persona of Mark, exploring a haunted island in search of his missing girlfriend. The game combines hidden-object scenes, where players search for camouflaged objects, with adventure puzzles, in which players save objects in their inventory in order to solve puzzles. Players have a journal where clues are automatically collected, and they can refer to it when they find potentially useful objects. When players get stuck they can access unlimited hints; they can also enable an "easy" mode, which provides arrows to guide them.
Is It Any Good?
TWISTED LANDS – SHADOW TOWN COLLECTOR'S EDITION is an engrossing mystery that will have adventure gamers hooked from the first spooky scene to the unexpected conclusion. The expert graphics, chilling music, and mysterious plot make for an all-around entertaining game experience. The only weakness is in the pacing, which gets a bit slow at the end as players have to navigate back and forth through a dozen or more scenes to find objects that unlock the final puzzles. When players draw near the game's ending, the temptation to speed things up with hints is hard to resist, and makes the conclusion a bit less satisfying.
Overall, the game is tons of fun with superb design and a spine-chilling story. Though it's definitely too mature for young kids, Twisted Lands – Shadow Town Collector's Edition will keep teens and adults entertained for hours.
