What’s It About?
Tap and drag the green smiley face to the One box to start playing WINKY THINK LOGIC PUZZLES. In each puzzle, kids have to move one or more colored shapes to a matching home base. When placed correctly, the shape turns green. Early puzzles are mostly about matching colored shapes to their correct target or moving shapes around fixed obstacles or through simple mazes. Later puzzles introduce moving obstacles and other challenges. Complete each puzzle to unlock the next. There are 180 puzzles total, categorized into three levels of difficulty; passing from one level to the next earns a trophy.
Is It Any Good?
Colored shapes and creative layouts make this leveled puzzler as fun to look at as it is to play. However, not all kids will find Winky Think Logic Puzzles to be the right fit for them. The early levels are quite easy and are thus appropriate for preschoolers, who will probably enjoy them. However, progress chugs along slowly, and older kids have to slog through all the super simple levels before they get to more challenging territory. Not all kids will have the patience for that. An easy workaround would be to remove the system of locking higher levels or to create multiple entry points. Also, most, if not all, puzzles have one correct answer. Though kids need to exercise their logical thinking skills to arrive at that answer, there's not much room for creativity. It would be nice to see some flexibility in how a puzzle can be solved. Despite these downsides, overall Winky Think Logic Puzzles offers quality fun and is a great way to get kids to problem-solve, think logically, and plan solutions.
Talk to Your Kids About ...
Families can talk about problem-solving as kids plan solutions to the Winky Think Logic Puzzles. What are the obstacles? What options are there to get around those obstacles? Does the order in which you make your moves matter?
Play with your kids and make it a family fun event. Talk to younger kids about shape and color as they make their matches. Talk to older kids about logic and planning. Just remember to let your kids take the lead!
Endless leveled games can be hard to put down. Talk to your kids about your family's rules and expectations regarding screen time.
