What's the Story?

In the GERONIMO STILTON series, Geronimo, the anxiety-ridden editor of The Rodent's Gazette, is dragged along on adventures with his adrenaline-junkie sister, Thea, his buffoon of a cousin, Trap, and his sweet nephew, Benjamin. Despite resisting any kind of risky behavior in his everyday life, he finds himself in the middle of the jungle, upside-down in Thea's airplane, face-to-face with a mummy, or caught in any other harebrained scheme his family concocts. While everything works out in the end, Geronimo spends most of the books trying to get out of situations that make him nervous -- which is pretty much everything.

Is It Any Good?

Our review:
Parents say ( 8 ):
Kids say ( 13 ):

This series is funny and has great nicknames for the characters and playful descriptions of New Mouse City and the mice who live there. Every story has a positive ending and Geronimo overcomes a fear or learns a small lesson, which is nice for readers this age. The illustrations are vibrant and funny (although the females are a little too curvy), and the pages are alive with color. It's a fun series for readers who like light, simple adventures and mysteries.

While this series is full of mice on adventures, the plots are a little dull. Geronimo Stilton spends a lot of time telling readers about how nervous he is, and the stories move at a pretty slow pace, given the amount of words on each page.
