What's the Story?

Shiz University's newest and most popular witch arrives in I AM GLINDA, and she's ready to enjoy all the fun the school has to offer. Her plans are thrown off when she's forced to share a dorm room with another new student, Elphaba, who is definitely not her ideal roommate, but the girls become friends and face a big challenge together before deciding to part ways.

Short, sweet, and to the point, Glinda's backstory is well told in this Little Golden book. The illustrations are colorful and reminiscent of the movie scenes, making it a helpful alternative for kids that are too young to watch the stunning adaptation. Fans of the movie (and musical) should note that this is a condensed version of Glinda's story, and the scenes where Glinda is mean to Elphaba before they become best friends are not included.

Talk to Your Kids About ...

  • Families can talk about the power of friendship. How does Glinda's compassion toward Elphaba help her be a better friend?

  • It can be hard to know how to do the right thing, or when to do it. In what ways does Glinda demonstrate integrity? What about empathy?

  • Have you read the companion book I Am Elphaba? How does reading one or the other change your experience of the story?
