A Lot or a Little?
The parents' guide to what's in this book.
What Parents Need to Know
Parents need to know that Superworld: Save Noah is a satire of superhero movies, Noah is the only non-superhero on the planet, which means he takes a lot of beatings every day. There's lots of cartoon mayhem, but no one suffers permanent injury. Noah suffers punches and energy blasts, but he's fine the next day. There's no strong language. In fact, there are substitutes for salty language (for example, "crud" instead of "crap"). Romance is limited to a possible crush.
What's the Story?
As SUPERWORLD: SAVE NOAH opens, Noah explains what it's like to have no powers. Everyone wants to punch or protect him, and he can survive painful injuries that heal the next day. When social media explodes with messages reading "Save Noah!" Noah has no idea why anyone wants to save him, but the fate of the planet seems to hang in the balance!
Is It Any Good?
Some adult readers and movie-goers may be growing tired of superheroes, but this amusing parody finds the laughs for middle-graders. In Superworld: Save Noah, co-authors Yarrow and Carrie Cheney devise a clever scenario filled with superheroes -- and one absolutely normal person, Noah, who holds the fate of the universe in his hands.
The book mixes prose and black-and-white art in an oddly murky fashion and ends on a cliffhanger, which may take some readers by surprise. Superworld is not always superfun, but it's worth checking out as a new approach to the comics medium.
Talk to Your Kids About ...

What does it feel like to be different from your peers? How can you make friends with people unlike yourself?
How does social media affect how you spend your day? Do you find it helpful or harmful?
