What's the Story?

In AISHA, a wealthy young woman in Delhi, Aisha (Sonam Kapoor), is convinced she's a gifted matchmaker and sets out to arrange her friends' love lives. But when her meddling backfires, her friends confront her, and Aisha must face the consequences of her actions, including what they mean for her own feelings for her longtime friend Arjun (Abhay Deol).

Entertaining and goofy, this Bollywood take on Jane Austen's Emma has stayed a fan favorite since its 2010 release. Directed by Rajshree Ojha, Aisha is simple and predictable, but it's also joyful and consistently funny. Kapoor nails the elitism and snobbery of South Delhi high society. The supporting cast is strong, with Ira Dubey, Lisa Haydon, and Cyrus Sahukar all turning in sharp, well-judged performances. With catchy songs, witty humor, and a brisk storyline, the movie achieves what it sets out to do without needing an elaborate climax. Silly and iconic, it's a romcom perfect for a chill movie night with friends and family.
