Angels Fallen: Warriors of Peace
What's the Story?
ANGELS FALLEN: WARRIORS OF PEACE follows former shoulder Gabriel (Josh Burdett) as he reunites with his old platoon to stop an undead army.
Is It Any Good?
A loose sequel to 2020's Angels Fallen, this fantasy action-adventure leans heavily into religious imagery and lurches from plot point to plot point like one of its staggering, undead demons. Angels Fallen: Warriors of Peace is an unholy mess. Some familiar faces line up in supporting roles, as Cuba Gooding Jr.'s Balthazar makes the most of his special relationship with the Almighty to guide Burdett's traumatized soldier Gabriel back into action. The task at hand is the small matter of defeating a wayward archangel and his army of zombified killers. There's some novelty value in seeing former Bond girl Denise Richards walk us through a handful of scenes in which she gets to literally slay as a Q-type weapons expert. But the script never serves her, Gooding, or the movie's lesser-known players with any memorable dialogue or set pieces. A bizarre, closing plot twist only reaffirms that it's hard to know what audience the film is trying to reach. It's a Christian movie without a clear message, but one that is powered by onslaughts of swearing and violence. As such, it misses any hope of redemption.
