The cost of high-end living takes center stage in this formidable documentary about the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) financial fiasco. "I like to plan my evenings, and make sure that I go to the best parties," admits alleged 1MDB embezzler Jho Low in Man on the Run. For his birthday, Low treats himself to a big bash in a Las Vegas lot and reportedly pays Britney Spears $1 million to pop out of a baked birthday cake. "Money is money," says Jennifer Peros, a magazine editor who observes the actions of celebrities at nightclubs. "Everybody wants it, and a lot of people do whatever it takes to get."
