Rebel Moon – Part Two: Director's Cut
What's the Story?
In REBEL MOON – PART TWO: DIRECTOR'S CUT, Kora (Sofia Boutella) and Gunnar (Michiel Huisman) learn that Atticus Noble (Ed Skrein) is not dead. Instead, he and his spaceship full of warriors are on their way back to the village of Veldt to have their revenge. The villagers must prepare to defend their wheat, village, and lives, with help from the gathered crew of interplanetary warriors: General Titus (Djimon Hounsou), Tarak (Staz Nair), Nemesis (Bae Doona), Milius (Elise Duffy), and robot Jimmy (voiced by Anthony Hopkins).
Is It Any Good?
Like the other director's cut released on the same day by Netflix, this one extends the length of the original as well as the gore and adds in a sex scene, but it's hard to understand the need. How many viewers will sit through both the 122-minute original and the 173-minute version of Rebel Moon – Part Two: Director's Cut? Especially considering the sequel is mostly battle scenes, it's a lot to take in. This cut seems even gorier than the first, and it adds in several shots of women's breasts. The effects and battle choreography are impressive, but it doesn't necessarily make the movie worth seeing.
