A Lot or a Little?
What you will—and won't—find in this podcast.
Episodes teach yoga poses and breathing exercises for beginners. There are visual guides on the website to help learn the poses. Kids learn about mindfulness and social-emotional topics like understanding and working through feelings. They also learn the importance of listening to their body and breathing.
One main lesson is the importance of being in tune with your mind and body. Yoga can help us relax or get us moving and build strength. Teaches self-awareness and self-acceptance. The "Rainbow Adventure" episode focuses on feelings and our "inner rainbow" which includes all the special things that make us unique. Each episode ends with positive affirmations.
Positive Role Models
The host and yoga guide, Kathryn, is encouraging and models kindness, compassion and empathy. Kids listening will imagine themselves as a variety of strong characters including superheroes, jungle animals, and growing plants. Listeners are invited to join in and repeat the positive affirmations at the end of the episodes, like "my superpower is caring."
One of the guiding principles of this podcast is that anyone can do yoga. The motto is "All you need is your ears, your imagination, and a safe place to move".
