What's the Story?
In A PERFECT STORY, Margot (Anna Castillo, Adu) is under pressure from her mom to "eat less" so she can be ready for her wedding day. But Margot thinks she's perfectly fine the way she is, even if her family company always seems to overlook her contributions. As the wedding to her Italian fiancé, Filippo, breathes down her neck, Margot's wedding dress feels constraining, and her mother's pressure becomes overwhelming. Meanwhile in a different part of town, David (Álvaro Mel) obsesses over his girlfriend, Idoia. But Idoia just isn't that into him -- in fact, she gives David a list of what makes him miss the mark. When Margot and David accidentally meet, they quickly discover that they would make perfect friends. Will they help each other learn to love themselves? Will they become closer than expected?
Is It Any Good?
Appetizing and upbeat, this show will prove especially bingeable for romantics who crave a European holiday. A Perfect Story arrives with fully realized characters -- and an ensemble of actors up to the task of helping this romantic comedy zip along at a bubbly tempo. Reminiscent of boy-meets-girl goodies like Say Anything, there are good moral lessons woven thoughtfully into this show.
Parents will be reminded of the epic romantic comedies they enjoyed as teens. Mid-teens will like the flirty fun that takes place in Madrid and Athens. Some sexy stuff to watch out for, but it's not going to rock the boat too much in an anything-goes reality-show era. Try watching it in the original Spanish with subtitles for even more spritz.
