What's the Story?
GAME CHANGER is a game show with the tagline "The only show where the game changes…every show!" Episodes vary in length, and the format shifts from quiz-based challenges to escape-room scenarios to murder mystery party-style games. The set is colorful and retro, and the games often involve funny props. The contestants are actors, comedians, and online personalities like Josh Johnson (The Daily Show), Rekha Shankar (Between Two Ferns: The Movie), and Lily Du (New Amsterdam). The series is hosted by Sam Reich, CEO of Dropout, the streaming service that originated the show.
Is It Any Good?
The shifting roster of contestants is, by and large, made up of funny, likable people—and to the show's credit, they're not all straight, White stand-up comedians. The production value is great, too. Game Changer has a fervent fanbase, and if the series has any drawbacks, it's that it can occasionally lean too heavily on in-jokes that only longtime viewers who know the cast of characters will understand. The creativity and boundary-pushing format are still a huge draw, though the unpredictable subject matter means it's best suited for older teens and adults.

Families can talk about Game Changer's offbeat format. How does it differ from mainstream game shows? Do you find it exciting that the games are always changing, or does a game show need consistency to be appealing?
