Parent and Kid Reviews
What's the Story?
HOUSE OF HEAT is an unscripted reality series that features a group of adult online content creators attempting to take their highly sexualized brands to the next level. Nine financially successful influencers from across the country—including Temptation Island alum Nafeesah Fosh Terry, reality TV regular Chase DeMoor, and Ava Louise, who will do anything to go viral—move into a Los Angeles mansion. They hope to grow their brands, make more money by collaborating with each other, and challenge sexual stigmas and stereotypes associated with what they do. But living together isn't easy, and soon personalities clash and tensions rise, making it hard to find ways to work together.
Is It Any Good?
The chaotic series features adult streaming content creators who have built wealth on platforms like Instagram and OnlyFans by producing (and, when possible, charging for access to) sexual content. While some of the influencers draw boundaries when creating content, the majority of them are willing to cross the line into what amounts to pornography to generate as much money as possible from their viewers and sponsors. It's obvious that these folks work hard to increase subscriber numbers, but when they aren't posing or performing for the camera, the housemates spend most of their time bickering and creating nonsensical drama. It's not at all sophisticated, nor does it offer much conversation about business models and marketing strategies. House of Heat only offers lots of silly, voyeuristic, and titillating reality fare.
Talk to Your Kids About ...
Families can talk about the differences between the online platforms influencers use to earn money. What different things do content creators have to do in order to make money off of Instagram and TikTok vs. what they do (or don't have to do) when posting on platforms like OnlyFans?
Posting sexual content online can be lucrative, but what consequences can this potentially have on the people who post it? Are there risks to the people who watch it?
