What's the Story?

In LEGO STAR WARS: THE MANDALORIAN, quirky mechanic Peli Motto (Amy Sedaris) tricks The Mandalorian (accompanied, of course, by baby Grogu) into attending a surprise birthday party featuring all his friends and a few former enemies. At the party, she and others tell tales of Mando's (Gavin Hammon) legendary adventures, many of which are recaps of episodes of the original live-action series. From battling a green fire-breathing dragon to meeting Grogu for the first time, Mando's been through a lot—but this party could be the most painful for the grumpy, serious hero.

These stories move a little fast (OK, really fast) for those who haven't seen the more detailed live-action episodes. Lego Star Wars: The Mandalorian frankly works best as a companion piece, adding humor and lightness to the often staid original series. It's fun to hear nearly the entire original cast reprise their roles here, especially Amy Sedaris as the always lively Peli Motto. It would've been even more fun to hear some fresher stories, but the special's still charming and even funnier than other Lego Star Wars properties.
