What's the Story?
LET'S MARRY HARRY is an unscripted competition series featuring a perennial reality show bachelor looking for a wife. Over the years, reality B-lister Harry Jowsey has built a reputation as a charming-but-manipulative serial dating playboy on TV shows like Too Hot to Handle and Perfect Match. But after looking up himself on the internet, he's decided to rebrand himself as a serious guy who wants to get married. He moves into a mansion with twenty women, a.k.a. "fiancées" who were all chosen by Call Her Daddy's Alex Cooper for their potential compatibility. As the women compete in challenges for special opportunities that might get them closer to Jowsey and go on intimate dates, they are being observed by Jowsey's "advisory panel," which includes Amanda Kloots, ex-girlfriend Georgia Hassarati, and his best friend Sonny Henty. It is then up to them to determine which contestants are good marriage potential and which ones should go home. The lucky woman chosen for him at the end of the series will marry him on TV.
Is It Any Good?
This formulaic series offers The Bachelor-like vibes as women vie for a seemingly marriage-ready man's hand in marriage. But Let's Marry Harry often feels like a series of cheap dates thanks to Harry Jowser's systematic engagement in a lot of bedroom activity with different women. It also feels more exploitative than most dating competitions because the women, all of whom are intelligent with established careers are being vetted by a panel of judges vs. being selected or rejected by their potential husband. Adding to this is that Harry himself isn't a particularly compelling character. It's possible that people who like this sort thing will find it entertaining enough to watch, but the overall series offers very little by way of romance or reality.
