Parent and Kid Reviews

What's the Story?

MY 2 CENTS is created by Italian cartoonist Zerocalcare, a follow-up to This World Can't Tear Me Down. The series follows Zero as he navigates an adult life that's far from his dreams: filled with anxieties, money problems, and unsolicited crime. Still, he finds comedy in the absurdity of the situation while supporting his friends and rekindling a teenage romance.

Is It Any Good?

Our review:
Parents say : Not yet rated
Kids say : Not yet rated

This series is definitely not for kids or for the faint of heart. My 2 Cents includes a lot of strong language and uncomfortable imagery (picture a dog licking fresh blood off a sidewalk, or a man using cocaine on top of a freezer). Its irreverent humor and sarcastic observations on everyday life may appeal to viewers who relate to the feeling of disillusionment or growing up without truly finding themselves.

Talk to Your Kids About ...

  • Families can talk about Zero's struggles in My 2 Cents. The protagonist wants to do the right thing, but oftentimes he gets in his own way. Can you think of moments in the show when that happens?

  • Zero finds comfort in video games, using them to escape into nostalgia. Do you think media can serve as a form of escapism? What do escapist narratives have in common? And are they the same for different people?

  • The show uses raw language without holding back. Why do you think the creator chose that approach? What effect does it have on viewers?
