What's the Story?

Based on the characters created by Lee Child, NEAGLEY features Maria Sten as Frances Neagley, a private investigator whose probe into the sudden death of a childhood friend uncovers a dangerous black market operation. After serving under Jack Reacher on the elite 110th M.P. Special Investigations Unit, the former U.S. Army Master Sergeant is now a civilian working with York Investigations, a Chicago-based detective agency that specializes in high-risk corporate and criminal cases. But when she learns that her old friend Tommy Crane (Jhaleil Swaby) is dead, and that his death is ruled a drug-fueled accidental suicide, Neagley immediately becomes suspicious. Aided by administrative assistant and aspiring P.I. Renee Birdwhistle (Adeline Rudolph), Chicago P.D. Detective Hudson Riley (Greyston Holt), and a street informant named Keno (Jasper Jones), her investigation soon takes her to Echo Canyon Farm, a communal agricultural facility that serves as a front for an organized criminal enterprise run by Lawrence Cole (Damon Herriman) and Pierce Woodrow (Matthew Del Negro), the CEO of Invection Pharmaceuticals.

The Reacher action series spinoff offers lots of narrative twists as Frances Neagley uncovers the real cause of her childhood friend's death. There's far-fetched plot line, well-choreographed chases and fight scenes, and, of course, cameo appearances by Jack Reacher himself (played by Alan Ritchson), which adds to the fun. Meanwhile, Neagley is a strong and complicated woman who does her job fearlessly while quietly negotiating past trauma and an inevitable future loss. Her character makes Neagley an entertaining watch, especially if you're a Reacher franchise fan.
