What's the Story?
Once a golf great known as THE HAWK, Lonnie Hawkins' (Will Ferrell) life is spiraling out of control. His caddy just had a heart attack on the green. His wife is desperate to get their divorce papers signed. His son is self-absorbed and beginning to overshadow Lonnie in the golf world. And Lonnie hasn't won a game in a long, long time. Can The Hawk make a comeback, or will he be living out of his van forever?
Is It Any Good?
Director David Gordon Green (The Righteous Gemstones) usually knows what to do with unlikable characters, but it can be hard to watch the petulant Hawkins as he treats people terribly and thinks only of himself (at least in early episodes). But there's certainly a redemption arc coming in The Hawk, and no one does unhinged man-child quite like Ferrell. The supporting cast is full of winners, from Molly Shannon as Hawk's soon-to-be ex-wife, to the always hilarious Fortune Feimster as his new caddy.
