A Lot or a Little?
The parents' guide to what's in this TV show.
What Parents Need to Know
Parents need to know that that 2022 edition of The Mole is a reboot of the popular game show that aired from 2001–2004, and again in 2008. While the formula is basically the same, the content is a little edgier thanks to some strong arguments and swearing, including "s--t" and "f--k." Nonetheless, the overall series offers a fun watch for folks old enough to handle it.
What's the Story?
THE MOLE (2022) is the third revival of the popular game show where a contestant is purposely sabotaging the other players. Hosted by MSNBC journalist Alex Wagner, it features 12 contestants in Australia competing in a series of missions that require them to work in teams to bank money that will be awarded to the winner at the end of the game. The catch? One person is acting as "the Mole," and is secretly sabotaging everyone else's efforts to build the pot of cash. Contestants must collect clues to figure out who it is, and must take quizzes testing them on the Mole's identity. The person scoring the worst on each quiz is sent home. The final three contestants remaining in the game must complete a final quiz, after which the Mole is identified, and one of the two actual players wins the cash.
Is It Any Good?
The latest reboot of this entertaining franchise features a new generation of players who never fully trust each other while working together to win cash. Contestants compete in a wide range of tasks, from prison breaks to underwater searches, all of which present twists that will keep you wondering about who is up to no good. It's fun, but sometimes this version's elimination rounds, which are done with cell phones, drag on too long, and constantly listening to players come up with their theories about who the Mole is gets a little tiresome. Nonetheless, viewers will find themselves guessing who the culprit is until the end.
