What's It About?
To use DREAMYKID MEDITATION APP JUST FOR KIDS, tap continue and view the calming quote that appears. If you tap the menu icon, you can choose background sounds through Settings, choose from two free programs, read the FAQ, and more. Tap the arrows on one of the programs to download and play. A progress circle on the screen shows how much time has elapsed and how much remains. If they want to, kids can adjust the program voice volume and background volume.
Is It Any Good?
Especially for kids who struggle with self-confidence, anxiety, or settling down at bedtime, this app may be a very useful tool. DreamyKids Meditation App Just for Kids has issue-specific meditations, visualizations, and affirmations that tune kids into soothing sounds with positive, calming messages. For kids who need a visual or tactile connection to calm down, this app may not be as effective. Also, while it may be helpful in many scenarios, there are situations in which it's not practical to plug into a formal guided meditation. It would be a nice addition to this app if it provided tips on ways kids can calm down naturally, on their own, when they can't access the app. Also, though the app description cites research around meditation as a practice, parents should note that there's no research about the app itself or its ability to help kids with learning and attention issues. So, parents may want to have their kids try the free programs and see if there are benefits.
Talk to Your Kids About ...
Families can talk about how calming the body and mind through formal meditation and relaxation techniques like the ones in Dreamy Kid Meditation App Just for Kids can help your kid relax about many situations that may cause anxiety: school, sports, bedtime, and more.
Ask your kid which background music they like most and why.
Talk about other ways your kid can calm down. What are some tech-free ways to slow the body and mind? Some examples: taking a deep breath, counting to 10, or listening to music.
