What’s It About?
The opening screen of FARFARIA STORYBOOKS - LIBRARY OF CHILDREN'S BOOKS AND READ ALONG WITH ME STORIES shows a scrolling menu of featured books. Kids and parents can choose "Explore the World" to browse books by genre: Within each genre, they can browse titles alphabetically, by release date, or by reading level. Reading levels range from Level PK for prereaders to Level S for fluent readers (Grade 4). Depending on ability and preference, kids can read to themselves, listen on auto-play, or read along as words are highlighted. The books have no interactive elements, so kids simply swipe to turn pages; however, there are sing-along books. A top menu gives kids the option to exit a book or make it a favorite for easy access later, and the share option requires parental assistance to share a favorite title with a friend via email. Parents also can join the Book Club and connect with contacts or via Facebook.
Is It Any Good?
Farfaria Storybooks - Library of Children's Books and Read Along With Me Stories makes it easy for parents to surround their kids with books. Though the books here don't have the interactive qualities kids might expect from an ebook, the app does offer a wide variety for a moderate price. For families who read a lot but don't have the time to go to the library, this might seem like a worthwhile investment. In addition, it helps parents choose appropriate books for their kids by classifying books by genre and reading level. Though not full of flashy bells and whistles, the app provides a wide variety of books with the reading options kids need.
